Instagram's built-in "Save" feature only bookmarks a Reel inside the app — it doesn't download the file to your Camera Roll. This guide shows you the fastest way to save any public Instagram Reel as an MP4 directly to your iPhone using Grabfy.
✓ No app to install · Works in Safari · Takes under 60 seconds
Step 1 — Copy the Reel link
Open the Instagram app on your iPhone and navigate to the Reel you want to download.
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) in the bottom-right of the Reel.
- Tap Copy Link. The URL is now in your clipboard.
Step 2 — Open Grabfy in Safari
Open Safari (or Chrome, Firefox — any browser works) and go to grabfy.com.
Step 3 — Paste and download
- Tap the search bar on the Grabfy homepage.
- Tap and hold, then select Paste.
- Tap the blue Download button.
- Grabfy fetches the Reel in a few seconds and shows you the result card.
- Choose your preferred quality — 1080p is recommended — and tap Download MP4.
Step 4 — Save the file to your iPhone
Safari will download the MP4 to your Downloads folder. To move it to your Camera Roll:
- Open the Files app on your iPhone.
- Navigate to Downloads.
- Tap and hold the video file, then tap Share.
- Tap Save Video — it will appear in your Photos app.
💡 Tip: On iOS 17+, you can tap Share directly from the Safari download notification and choose Save Video without opening Files.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I save the Reel directly from Instagram?
Instagram's "Save" only bookmarks content inside the app. Downloading to your device requires a tool like Grabfy that fetches the original MP4 from Instagram's CDN.
Does this work on iPhone 14, 15, and 16?
Yes. Grabfy is a web app — it works on any iPhone model running iOS 14 or later, in any modern browser.
Will the Reel have a watermark?
No. Grabfy downloads the source file directly from Instagram's servers. No watermark is ever added.
Can I download Reels from private accounts?
No. Grabfy only works with public content that is accessible without logging in to Instagram.
